LEIGH CAMERON

Sculptor

Leigh Cameron in his workshop surrounded by some of his work

Leigh’s design philosophy values the space around an object as much as the object itself, creating a harmonious balance and distinct sense of place. He enjoys creating a sense of simplicity and honesty — a coalescence of proportion, light, and space.

Concrete isn't just a substance; it's a story stretching back thousands of years. Its history and potential fascinate Leigh, and he constantly experiments with its textures, colours, and shapes.

In his work, Leigh aims to reverse the assumption about concrete by turning heaviness into elegance and rigidity into versatility. He’s particularly interested in how it interacts with other materials, forging connections that spark new aesthetics.

Leigh is currently available to design bespoke furniture.

How do the strengths of one material facilitate another?

This ontology and innovative approach to pushing the boundaries of concrete as a material deliver tactile concrete on a more intimate scale. It allows the design of forms that contain architectural references, functional volumes, and shapes while offering a more fluid language for objects.

Leigh is opening up a whole new dialogue around concrete through a holistic approach. Once seen as traditional, this dynamic material has now been repositioned as a contender for the modern world and a lifestyle choice. He is making concrete more accessible and acceptable, refining his skills in sculpting it in a more contemporary context.
