NOMADIC LIGHT

Nomadic Light - EK Design

Nomadic Light is one of three pieces commissioned by Katherina Eisenkock of EK Design. Her designs fuse traditional materials in a modern way. In her own words, this object is' a companion in the flux of domestic consistency'. Helping her formulate her ideas, Leigh formulated and designed the concrete holding for the lamp's light. In this instance, the use of two ancient materials—concrete and leather—lends the object longevity, while the softening leather contrasts the firmness of the concrete.

The lamps are cordless and can be recharged using a shelf with a built-in induction charging system, which was developed in collaboration with Lumitech, an Austrian LED research company.
