While Leigh completed his Furniture Design degree at Central Saint Martin's, he entered the CSM Palladium Jewellery Design Competition judged by Hannah Deacon, jewellery designer Hannah Martin, and Harper's Bazaar Editor Sarah Bailey.

Perhaps surprisingly, Leigh won the competition, but Sarah Bailey, one of the three judges, said, ‘You could see his (Leigh's) love of concrete and architecture in the strong matt design. He brought a fresh approach to jewellery design.' This approach has proven invaluable in Leigh’s work with concrete.
